If you are looking for a new home and you want to make sure that the house that looks so attractive is also functional and that all the sub-systems, including the heating, air conditioning and ventilation unit are working properly, you need not only to talk to the home’s current owners about possible issues, but you need to have Denver HVAC consultants check the entire house. Here are a few things to look for while assessing the health of the HVAC equipment:
- Check the indoor units – take a close look at the cooling and heating units to see if they show any sign of rust or other forms of decay and also listen to find out whether there are any strange noises coming from the units;
- Find out about the age of the system – AC equipment and heat pumps live for around 10-15. They can live a bit longer with proper maintenance, but if they are of age, they will need to be replaced soon. If the units are younger than that, ask for any maintenance records or any notes that technicians left to describe the fault they fixed;
- Check the ducts – check for loose connections, leaks, excessive dust, gaps between connecting ducts, these are all issues that compromise the efficiency of the HVAC system and unnecessarily increase energy bills.
